Does your Native Microsoft Dynamics use AIF?

AIF is an application integration framework which enables companies to integrate and communicate with external business processes and partners through the exchange of XML.

What is AIF?
AIF is an application integration framework which enables companies to integrate and communicate with external business processes and partners through the exchange of XML. External systems can request or create data by calling the web services that are exposed by Microsoft Dynamics AX.(It supports up to AX 2012 R3 Version). AIF is deprecated in Dynamics 365 FO, it uses OData and Custom web services for integration.

Do we use AIF?
No, we don't use AIF in our Native Connector

How does our Native Connector work?
AX 2012
The connector works in AX2012 with own written web services and webserver in IIS. So an AX2012 software part and also a dll which is responsible for mapping and communication between Alumio-iPaaS and AX2012. The software at AX2012-side uses the standard business logic.

Dyn365FO
In Dyn365FO we use Odata and standard Dyn365FO’s api’s for Custom services, which work together with the Alumio iPaaS. Where needed we extended this and add more features or made new Custom Service api’s.

About OData
OData is a standard protocol for creating and consuming data. The purpose of OData is to provide a protocol that is based on Representational State Transfer (REST) for create, read, update, and delete (CRUD) operations. OData applies web technologies such as HTTP and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) to provide access to information from various programs. OData provides the following benefits:
  • It lets developers interact with data by using RESTful web services.
  • It provides a simple and uniform way to share data in a discoverable manner.
  • It enables broad integration across products.
  • It enables integration by using the HTTP protocol stack.

We use AIF. Can you connect without the Native Connector?

Yes, you can. This can be done via our iPaaS solution.
